When you "come as you are," Kelly, you give us all permission to tell our truths from where we are. This is a huge thing! So thanks for telling your truth.
Messy is real life, relatable, can sometimes give others a reason to smile, giggle or cry. Being oneself, with all the shit and mess is perfect because that’s what life is made up of. ALL of it. ❤️
the desire to “live up to” my parents has always been a stressor for me. i’ve always been a bit of a disappointment. it’s only as i shift into my 40’s that i’m learning to give myself some credit. i may not be rich, but i’m kind. i may not ever own a house, but i’ve always owned my integrity.
Jack! Yes!! Being in one's 40s is about this very thing - giving ourselves credit no matter how we fit into the expectations of parents and society. This is the proverbial "mid-life crisis" where we see that there is more to value than what society values. And this same tension keeps circling back in each decade after but has less force and rigidity and seems to be easier to see through and let go of each time.
Having just started my Sixties, I am feeling the pull to shed this expectation game once and for all.
sounds like a refreshing change. I was going to unsubscribe; but If you can write some real shit - I will def stick around and support that everyday of the week. so lets hear the messy side of life. lets talk about it - shine a little light on that dark corner. appreciate your honesty and here for it as well.
I love messy. 😎

We're all in different stages of shitshow for varying lengths of time, Kelly. We'll hang with you through yours.
Thank you for being yourself, Kelly.
No need to apologize, Kelly
My Dad owned a Bar in Norco
And it's hard to live up to him
I read and saw You sharing
your incredible story, and still
can't imagine the pressure.
But you came through it all as an amazing and inspiring human being.
And most importantly, you never became a dick.
It is a joy to know you.

no one has to be proud of us, except us. ❤️
